Quite simply the best gin I have tasted, bursting with fresh flavors. So good I could drink it straight on ice, but it was even better in a Gin and Tonic.

Our favorite for many years

I’m always surprised to see how little known this June is. No one had even written a review. It’s hands down at the very top of my list. But I do need to qualify that statement.

The real test of gin is in an extra-dry martini (or gibson for me.). I use a vegetable oil sprayer to just coat the inside of a chilled martini glass with vermouth and immediately pour in the ice cold gin, so it’s as close to straight gin as you get. I actually prefer other gins with tonic but in a martini there’s nothing better.

I discovered it by accident when it was one of 6 gins my son-in-law and his business partner gave me years ago in appreciation for some help I gave their company. When we tasted it we were surprised that every single one of us liked this the best of the group—which included several well-known brands—and since then we continue to agree that it’s our favorite.

It’s not expensive and you should give it a try.

I first had a Negroni with this gin in NOLA and finally bought a bottle for ourselves. It adds a touch of cherry flavor and I use a use an orange slice to garnish and add sweetness. Yum!

So complex- the gin I'll come back to every time

First tried this in the Netherlands and knew I'd be on a mission to find it near me. When all else failed, I was so pleased to see it here. Yes, of course it's more expensive than in Europe (and with shipping...oof) but I love it more than others I've paid much more for. This gin makes me want to only get the good tonic out.

Barr Hill Gin

Very smooth. There is a slight sweetness from the honey that I love and an agreeable about of juniper for my tasting. I am not a fan of gin but this has converted me. It is now the only liquor I drink. We drink it straight it’s that good.

Lovely floral notes. Color changes if you add acids (lime wedge, for instance). Pairs extremely well with Elderflower Tonic for a superbly summery take on the G&T, even in winter.

This is the only gin I’ve ever liked, and I like it a lot! I tried it in Finland this past March and was so happy to find that I can get it here in the states at a pretty good price. I wish they also had Kyrö Pink Gin. Both are excellent!

The minute I opened the bottle, it was appealing to my nose. I just kept smelling it. I’m addicted to the aromatics of this gin.
I could smell citrus, vanilla & almond. I love that combination.

I tried it straight. To me, it was sweet. Is that the intention? If so, perfect!
I tasted Apple immediately. On my tongue, I could taste rhubarb with a hint of berry.

It tastes great on its own, but then I mixed it with Lemonade (my go to summer drink) and it was phenomenal. I will be buying more of this. It will be the staple gin in my home now. Thanks again, Sassenach Spirits, for another wonderful product!

My opinion is that these is more of a martini Gin than a Gin and Tonic gin as it is somewhat booze forward. It is a tasty gin and I love the bottle but I am a Gin and Tonic drinker and was a little disappointed with this gin as a top shelf Gin.

Smooth, savory, and very refreshing

This gin has a very different profile. It has some juniper for sure, but there's a lot more going on. If I didn't know there was orange peel I'd at least have called it citrus-y. The other botanicals, especially the eucalyptus, let it adapt to a wide range of uses (think of all your favorite berries/fruits combos, or even mixed with muddled plants like cucumber and fresh mint leaves). Even with all that complexity it still makes an excellent Gin and Tonic and a wonderful Gin Martini!

For years, I've been a one-gin imbiber. A gift of Bobby's Schiedam Gin changed that forever. Upon first whiff, the mere aroma of Bobby's transported me on an olfactory memory journey. I thought I smelled something like citrus and roses, only later finding out the notes were lemongrass and rosehips. The first sip, as it danced down my palette, was just as trasportative, opening up my imagination for a trip around the world. Since that first gift, Bobby's has been my consistent armchair travel companion. I really can't recommend any other gin.

This is a gin that Clearly has all the hallmarks of a great Gin: Juniper, citrus, complexity, but add to that, it has its own uniqueness. Yes, you get wifts of blueberry and rhubarb and even the sweet bit of kelp. It’s delicious on its own. But here’s the issue- at the price point it makes a good G&T but not a great G&T. As much as I love the old standby of G&T, I have less expensive options that are at least as good. I’ll be trying it in a gin daisy and even a martini. I’d be appreciative if anyone can suggest a drink in which the uniqueness of this outstanding gin will shine through and complement. If necessary, I guess I’ll be “forced” to drink it neat.

I originally received a bottle of Ginny's Gin as a gift, and was blown away by the flavors of the Gin! I had to order a full case! I saw on the web site that her husband runs a very successful Winery and Ginny uses some grape husks for making her Gin. My wife and I LOVE IT!! Thank You!

Harahorn Gin

Harahorn has become one of my favourite gins as of late. It has a complex flavour - very heavy on the juniper with some very distinct notes of blueberry. Very subtle sea kelp notes can be distinguished too. Highly recommend.

Waterloo No. 9 Gin

This is the only gin we will drink. We have also “ruined” our friends for life, on other brands. Fresh & clean, w/o the herby botanicals of most gin. We even substitute for vodka in mixed drinks. Try it first, thank us later. When nothing but the best will do. You won’t regret it!

Plymouth Gin Original

Plymouth is the classic gin for your Martini! I was turned onto it about ten years ago after a review in the paper and it became my go to gin. Clean, crisp, and balanced. It's a workhorse of a gin. Good in any gin-based cocktail and with a splash of tonic. Pre-pandemic and early pandemic I could always find it at my ABC liquor store, then the supply dried up. Thank you Caskers for shipping me some! I am now officially hoarding it for the holidays!

No.3 London Dry Gin

I agree with the other reviewer. It is a bracing, assertive, and clean London Dry. Excellent in Martinis and the Vesper. I was introduced to it at Duke's bar in London which Ian Fleming frequented. They use it in their Vesper cocktails and rinse the glass with vermouth then toss it out before making their martinis with this gin. At its price point it is a bit of special gin for me, but well worth the price. I stock up on when I see it.

We sampled this at a recent tour of the Rabbit Hole distillery in Louisville. Sure, their bourbons are great, but it was this gin that really stuck with us. Barrel-aged gin is relatively rare and it's a welcome change from heavy juniper gins. The golden color is beautiful. We enjoy sipping it, mixing it and using it like you would vermouth in a martini. A wonderful variety.

Excellent cocktail gin

Two of my favorite cocktails are an Aviator and a Vesper Martini. Both require a bold London dry gin that maintains its flavor when mixed. I love Aviation Gin, but it's too smooth for those cocktails. Tanqueray and Tanqueray 10 work but I was looking for a wow factor that even the 10 didn't present. This is easily my favorite gin for the Vesper, and one of the best for the Aviator. It was great in a Gin and Tonic, but seems almost wasted in that drink when I think many other gins do a great job for better value.

Great tasting gin, very smooth at the top, then an "oh wow!" moment. Before purchasing I read about the history of the company, which of course added to my enjoyment.

Definitely a dry gin, no key flavors stand out above the others but instead there's a nice interaction between the juniper, citrus and other botanical.

I bought this for my wife simply because she is a Dorothy Parker fan, but we both immediately loved the flavor. Most gins are too overpowered by juniper berries for our taste. DP gin on the other hand is delightfully flavored and a real joy to drink straight up.

This is not your father's gin. Almost the complete opposite of a London Dry, it is inspired by dry French Rosé and thus has a fruit and floral body with no added sweetness and a soft pink hue from strawberries and cherries. Works perfectly in a spritz or a French 75 using a sparkling rosé.

Wow! This gin is so clean and refreshing. The juniper is not too pronounced and the lemon and grapefruit notes really shine thru when you add tonic. It is now my go-to gin for Negronis and martinis.

Hendrick's Midsummer Solstice Gin

I'm a big fan of Hendrick's standard gin, so I snatched this up at my local store. I have never disliked a spirit this much. The nose is a very strong floral scent that reminds me of an old lady's perfume. Unfortunately, that's what it tastes like, too - like you're drinking MeeMaw's perfume. Diluting it in a G&T didn't help, nor did chilling it. I didn't finish the bottle after 3-4 drinks.

Unique, delicious, and versatile

This gin is really different. I love the honey that comes through and adds a bit of sweet that smooths the juniper a bit, but that's still there too. I've been drinking it enjoying just over ice, but have also tried it in a Negroni, a Tom Collins and the obvious, gin and tonic (i used good tonic). It's delightful and refreshing in all of these drinks. I can't wait to try some other gin cocktails too. Having good ingredients has really helped me step up my home cocktail game, since I can't go to my favorite little cocktail bar right now. Love it and will be buying more!

Interesting and Refreshing

I enjoyed this gin, which I mostly either sipped neat or over ice, but also tried in a G&T. The flavor is distinct; you can definitely spot the influence of honey. It is not as botanical-forward as many gins. The roundness of the honey takes the edge off the juniper.

I have long been a Sapphire drinker, than Sapphire East, but once I got a taste of Brockman's those were but aside. Crisp, flavorful, easy drinking, quite enjoyable.

I decided on this gin as a gift because of the additional personalized engraving. Not sorry there - the bottle itself is interesting but the added message made an enviable gift. The grateful recipient was persuaded to continue on with a tasting event of the Val's. Boy were we lucky. Thankfully, it is juniper-forward - why else drink gin?! The floral aroma is soft and much like rose ( Hendrick's anyone?) We found the imbibement to be clean, pleasantly dry, and not too sweet. Fabulous mixed in tonic, but enjoyed best neat, on ice, with an orange wedge.

We first had this when staying at a castle in the Black Forest region in Germany. Hunted all over and found a small bottle in a small shop in Tubingen. It's complex without being harsh like some gins, and other reviews are right... great for a dry martini. As my dad would have said, "Just pass the vermouth bottle over the glass". Have yet to find anyone who doesn't love this gin. It's a new taste adventure every time we open it up. Highly recommend!

Corgi Earl Grey Gin

I was curious what Earl Grey Gin would be like but doing a little homework I saw a recipe using Corgi Gin for an Earl Grey martini. I decided that would be the acid test for this, as I love Martinis but I am very particular about the Gin used.

Well I made the Earl Grey Martini per the recipe but changed the garnish to lemon cured olives.

I was stunned. It was a different but truly wonderful experience. I like it so much I made them again last night with a light supper trying out a new baby swiss I just received.

I had very wonderful evening with my own trick turned into a real treat!

I look forward to experimenting further in the future.

My all time favourite!

I was introduced to Salcombe Gin's Start Point 3 years ago whilst visiting family the UK and despite trying so many other gins, this is my all time favourite. It's really balanced, super smooth and citrusy, especially when served with red grapefruit. I've tried their other gins, (all of which are really tasty) but this one is a classic! So pleased its made it across the pond.

Two awesome gins from this distillery in England. I’ve seen the photos on their website of their distillery and really hope to visit when I am next over in the UK. It sits right on the water. Worth the cost of a boat just to be able to visit the distillery by water. Now for the gin. I’ve tried both. Their Start Point is the most delicious example of a London Dry I have ever tried. Far better than anything else you can get from the local liquor store. Serve with a slice of ruby red grapefruit for the best serve. Their pink gin isn’t like others I’ve tried. It is dry yet soft and brilliantly aromatic. They don’t use any artificial colors or flavors and no added sugar. Simply awesome and the bottle and label is stunning. I can’t wait to see both of these more wifey available in the US. One distillery to watch for sure.

I am not a gin drinker but, this one is exceptional beyond belief.

Try the gin with some tonic water and a hand squeezed half or less of grapefruit with a sprig of rosemary. Just Devine and refreshing.

I didn't think I liked gin and admittedly they all tasted the same to me. Then I tried Monkey 47 Gin and I find myself reaching for this bottle more often than any other spirit in the house. The gin is silky with a rollercoaster of flavors. I could simply Monkey 47 neat or on the rocks or make a G&T - it has been fantastic in every thing I've tasted it in. I've officially been converted to a gin drinker now.
And yeah... the price seems a bit much at first, but honestly, it's so good I don't mind paying for it.

Ok, this is my third bottle of this stuff and I can't stop raving. The recipe tag on the bottle had one for a Gin Manhattan, whaaaaat? Have you EVER thought about a Manhattan with Gin instead of Whiskey? With any other gin, absolutely not! This stuff, wow! Incredible I can't recommend enough.

I am not much of a gin drinker, but we enjoyed Downton Abbey, and actually walked the grounds at Highclere a few years ago, so I had to try a bottle. It is probably the smoothest gin I have ever had. It doesn’t have the “bite” of the typical gin and has much more of a restrained, fruity style. I like it. Ordered another couple of bottles for me and my father.

I have never been much of a gin aficionado. Most gin tasted like I had a mouthful of turpentine-soak rag. The last several gins I have purchased from Caskers have been so amazingly tasty. Each one is different. Bertha's Revenge I bout because I was intrigued by the name and was not disappointed at all. The first aroma is heavy of citrus and quite strong. I thought "this is going to hurt me." But the first sit to the last lingering flavor was so pleasant. No harsh aftertaste, and each and every botanical I cold taste. I love it when all the flavors hold their own. Bertha's Revenge is a real prize and I highly recommend it especially for those who think Gin tastes like turpentine. This one will surprise you..

Breckenridge Gin

A lot of artisanal gins overplay their hands with too much citrus and too many botanicals. They say Breckenridge spirits are known by their water, and this one tastes clean. Bright, crisp, clean, dry, and strong. I'm not a fan of sweetness. They added a little floral to soften it slightly with some sweetness, but it's very subtle. This is a great value.

I really enjoyed this refreshing gin from the first sip. Glad I didn't confound it with olives or onions (I might try a small lemon twist 'tho...) Loved the slight majority of the citrus over the juniper (65:35?) Hendricks should keep the recipe and consider it as a Summer gift or treat to their loyal customers...

Terrific balanced gin

Really nice, well balanced gin. Everything I like in a sipping gin is there - a bit of citrus, a bit of juniper, a bit of floral - but none overwhelm the others. I wouldn't use this as a mixer for G&Ts as it's just too good on its own. I'll leave the New Amsterdam gin for those drinks. Highly recommend this for a really nice "on the rocks" drink that could easily convert non-gin drinkers. Well done!

I was disappointed by this gin. I was hoping for something dry and sour, and found this gin cloyingly sweet and the orange flavor overpowering. I couldn't taste any juniper or any botanicals. It's fine as a mixer, but its closer to an orange flavored vodka product than gin.

Cheap Gin Feel with Cheap Rye Taste

I was pretty excited to check out this bottle, I love gin and I love rye whiskey. I opened the bottle and was greeted by smells you'd expect of a typical gin, which I took as a good sign. I poured some into a glass neat and gave it a sip and found all the rye as well as the rough burn you would expect from bottom shelf gin. In my opinion the botanicals and the rye were not a good mix, and they created a very strong flavor that even a mix of ginger and citrus couldn't overpower. I was left disappointed.

Bought it on a whim. Used it to mix a Gin & Tonic and it was a wonderful nice drink. Would gladly buy it again. It's not overwhelming like Tanqueray gin is.

Unique gin - my personal favorite

Last year, when travel was allowed, I went on a tour of Ireland that included a visit to Ballyvolane House, where this gin is made in a converted barn. The botanicals in that room smell fabulous. We were served some of the gin with lunch. I wasn't expecting to be blown away by a gin on a trip to Ireland. I was thrilled to hear that I could come home and purchase this gin via Caskers or else I would have lugged some halfway around the world to bring some home. Ireland makes a lot of cheese. Which produces a lot of whey. It is that local whey that gets turned into this gin. This gin is smooth enough to serve on the rocks. They recommend an orange peel twist with it. I agree. My favorite tonic combination is Fever Tree Citrus tonic + Bertha's Revenge and that orange twist. Simply fabulous.

Magellan Gin

This was the first "craft" gin I ever tried. Unlike most people I know, I actually like juniper forward gins which is what I expected the first time I had it. What a surprise with Magellan! Almost no juniper at all. Rather a clean slightly citrus/floral blend that is outstanding on the rocks - you can certainly use it in cocktails but why hide the flavor. AS a bonus, I have converted more people back to good quality gins with Magellan. Biggest challenge is getting them to put aside their memories of high school raids on the parents' liquor cabinets (and the expected result!). Haven't had a fail yet....well done, indeed! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Has a wide array of refreshing flavor. Best Gin I have ever had. A mix of traditional Gin with some really nice bright citrus flavors. Ever so slightly sweet but not Peekey Blinders sweet. Juniper is there but it is not a Jackhammer that wrecks so many other Gins for me. The packaging got me to order the first bottle. The taste got me to order 2 more. I like fruity Aussie wines or berry blends, Highland scotch that is full of fruit and slightly sweet. I normally prefer Beefeaters Gin. This is a nice upgrade. My "girls" think its wonderful as well.

With it's crisp clean taste and smooth finish this gin has VERY quickly made its way into my top 5! The notes of cuke, mint, and rosemary hit so lightly that even the hubs (NOT a gin fan) managed to help me polish off the bottle in record time! This is a perfect gin to have on hand for EVERYONE, the juniper is easy enough that it doesnt punch you in the throat but instead presents itself softly helping to pull the citrus to the forefront. Overall- why are you reading still GO BUY IT! (I just ordered 3 more bottles)

Decent, but not what I look for in a gin.

I tried this with a friend who loved it, but for me it didn’t hit the mark. I love the flavor notes listed, but for some reason they came together in a way that reminded me of tequila more than gin. For reference, my favorites are Conniption, Sutlers, and for more mainstream, Hendricks. Naturally we all have different palates, and I will absolutely finish the bottle eventually, but I wouldn’t buy it again.

I have both, and when I want something special, this is my go to for all drinks that are gin forward. I would also give them kudos for one incredible vodka that is where I got started with Valentine. It is my wife's choice and many of our friends as well. If you happen to be Ferndale, MI, they have an incredible distilling setup for tours, and a bar with some incredible bartenders making some really incredible cocktails that are worth the money. No, I don't work for them, but I am a fan! We tend to get over there 4-6 times a year.

There are no real competitors

Spectacular dry gin with a very complex botanical flavor. While others have gone to a very strong berry flavor (Nollets) or adding lime or lemongrass (Rangpur or Sapphire East), Monkey 47 retains the character of a dry gin while dramatically improving the botanical flavor. Yes, it's expensive, but it is worth it for something special. Best gin for a dry martini, hands down.

Dingle Distillery Original Pot Still Gin

An etherial experience!

While visiting Ireland this summer, we were in Dublin and we ventured to the oldest pub in Ireland (or so they claimed..ha) - Brazen Head. It was a wonderful place and after ordering my usual G&T...the bartender said he would make me the BEST G&T THAT I HAVE EVER HAD! Well he presented me with a Dingle gin G&T! It was unique and fantastic. The Dingle gin was voted "The best gin for 2019" in Ireland! While in Ireland, we traveled to the actual Dingle factory hoping to purchase some at the factory but they were not permitted to sell it at that location. We did purchase it at a package store and enjoyed it during our month-long vacation. We bought a bottle at the airport to take home but gave it to our friends as a gift for their kind airport transport and keeping our car for the month. BUT, that left us without Dingle gin. We are so happy that "Caskers" carries Dingle Gin, and even-though it is twice the price as in Ireland...we are happy to pay the price! The flavor is so uniquely different from any other gin that I have tasted...you simply have to try it! What a delightful treat. Pair it with a Fever-Tree - lite cucumber tonic (another item that you can find in Ireland but I am still on the hunt for here)... and you will have an ethereal experience!

Hendrick's Midsummer Solstice Gin

The first taste I got of this gin made me weak in the knees. I love gin but I never thought it could be so lovely. Midsummer Solstice is light, sweet, and dreamy. I hope I always have a bottle at my bar.

Monkey 47 Schwarzwald Dry Gin (1L)

This is the best gin I ever tasted. It is an absolute monster of botanical flavor and aroma. I wanted to try this gin forever, but balked at the price for a mere 375ml. This full liter is still expensive, but much more attractively priced, and I have seen it only at Casker's. The flavor and aroma profiles are unique and strong enough to hold up to any mixer or ingredient. Finally, a gin the makes equal partners with the sweet vermouth and campari in the perfect Negroni.

Here is a gin for the summer months that you can enjoy straight with a crisp slice of green or red pepper in it. Works well with tonic or as a martini with a blue cheese or garlic stuffed olive. Plan olives just to salty for this type of gin.

Great citrus forward gin

The rangpur lime that is used in this gin gives it a decidedly citrus aroma and flavor. In fact, you may be tempted to avoid adding a splash of lime juice to your G&T if you make it with this Tanqueray option. Dry, intense, and smooth. A very good choice!
