About Bootlegger New York Craft Gin

The New York Craft Gin is crafted by first distilling their New York Craft Vodka, which is made entirely from corn. Once the vodka has been distilled, it's time for the maceration process with 5 simple botanicals including juniper, coriander, lemon verbena, orris root and bitter orange. "The botanicals soak for 24 hours," says Brian, and "then we redistill the gin through our 300 gallon pot still to remove color and bind the flavors together." As a result, the gin has hints of pine and juniper on the nose, that give way to bursts of floral citrus, grapefruits, orange zest and spicy coriander on the palate. "We bottle at 94 proof," adds Brian, "and like [our] Vodka, our gin is gluten-free and certified kosher."

About Gin

According to Winston Churchill, "The gin and tonic has saved more Englishmen's lives and minds than all the doctors in the Empire," referring to the British officers using it to treat malaria in India.

Initially made for medicinal purposes, gin gets most of its flavor from the juniper berries added after the distillation process. It sure has come a long way from the Middle Ages, with the introduction of new botanicals, fruits, and spices, bringing it closer to people of all flavor varieties.
