About

Rum

Rum is distilled from sugar cane, made primarily in the Caribbean and Latin America, rum can be found in many parts of the world.

Traditionally distilled from molasses, sugar cane syrup or sugar cane juice. The distillate, a clear liquid, is usually aged in oak barrels, usually various wine casks. Before being bottled, the Rum is cut to proof with water. Several rums are also aged using the Solera method which takes older rums and marries them with younger spirit using a large vat.Common Rum categories include White (unaged), Dark, Spiced, and Añejo (aged).

Fun fact: rum played a large role in maritime culture. The spirit has famous associations with the Royal Navy where it was given as a daily “Tot” or ration. Get your daily ration below.
