About Freeland Spirits Gin

Freeland Gin was launched in December 2017, crafted by hand in small batches, a traditional copper pot still brings juniper and 13 other botanicals to life. This gin is small batch crafted using a unique blend of traditional heat distillation along with vacuum distillation, using fresh, Pacific Northwest ingredients. Fresh herbal essences of rosemary, mint and crisp cucumber lift the nose. Grapefruit and lemon peel brighten the brisk juniper and bold spice. Pink peppercorn, coriander and star anise mingle with 10 additional dried botanicals in the copper pot still. Yes, delicious in cocktails. But we suggest sipping it with just a cube of ice.

About Freeland Spirits

Freeland Spirits is one of very few women owned and run distilleries in history. One of Portland’s newer craft distilleries. Freeland is named after founder Jill Kuehler’s grandmother, Freeland, who as Kueler puts it, "never touched a drop of booze in her life but taught me that all good things come from scratch. And that women can be anything they want."

Molly Troupe, Freeland’s Master Distiller, oversees every aspect of production, with a background in biochemistry and a Masters Degree in Distillation from Heriot Watt in Scotland, Molly commands perfection with every spirit she orchestrates.

Freeland Spirits is a celebration of the women of the industry.

About Gin

According to Winston Churchill, "The gin and tonic has saved more Englishmen's lives and minds than all the doctors in the Empire," referring to the British officers using it to treat malaria in India.

Initially made for medicinal purposes, gin gets most of its flavor from the juniper berries added after the distillation process. It sure has come a long way from the Middle Ages, with the introduction of new botanicals, fruits, and spices, bringing it closer to people of all flavor varieties.
