About Uncle Nearest

Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey is inspired by one of the best whiskey makers the world never knew, the first African-American master distiller on record in the United States, Nathan "Nearest" Green. A slave until Emancipation and the end of the Civil War, Green was likely the one who taught Jack Daniel how to distill.

Owned entirely by Uncle Nearest, Inc., The Uncle Nearest line includes a Premium Aged blend of 8-10YO, and 11YO Barrel Proof Single Barrel, and debuting at Tales of the Cocktail: a Small Batch whiskey hand-selected by the founders of Uncle Nearest with a blend curated by descendants of Nearest Green. Every expression is distilled, aged, bottled, and hand-labeled in Tennessee.

About American Whiskey

There are two main representatives of the American whiskey family, bourbon, and rye, but some other spirits don't fall into those two strictly regulated categories.

There's equally strictly regulated American single malt, made from 100% malted barley, Tennessee whiskey, essentially bourbon filtered through maple charcoal and aged in new charred oak barrels.

And then there's moonshine, a high proof (150- 170 proof) distilled spirit mainly made out of corn which gained popularity during the prohibition.

Check out our impressive selection of American single malts, or find your new favorite in our rich whisk(e)y selection, and get familiarized with what the world has to offer.

The nose has a pleasant sweetness with corn, fruit, charred oak, vanilla, and baking spice aromas. On the palate, you'll find more oak, fruit, and toffee. The finish is long, fruity, oaky, and deep with dark chocolate and a touch of leather.
