Stunning Whiskey

I saw this whiskey on a TV show and thought it might be fun to try. I am a big fan of Angel's Envy, the Ocean's cask series bourbon and so this was more of an experiment than purchasing a new go to whiskey.

I am stunned in how smooth and good it tastes. Everyone i have shared this with has assumed i spent twice as much for it. Buy it now because as it gets better known there are two things that will happen. The price will go up and it will become scarce.

bravo St George, you’ve crafted an incredibly interesting botanical Japanese style whisky. While this could make some really interesting cocktails, I’m just enjoying the hard core herbal and tea accents. This is not for the softer of palates.

Very Surprising... And Delicious!

This whiskey is so surprising, levels of flavor throughout the entire taste. At first we get our good ol whiskey burn. Followed by a quick taste of sweet fruit, only to be abruptly ended by rich vanilla and toffee. Flavor lingering, we get an almost coffee and dark chocolate like finish. Such a surprising find at a shop in the Portland airport! WILL be buying again. I WILL.

Incredible Spirit

For my last drink on planet earth, I would choose Deerhammer Single Malt. It is, by far, my favorite spirit. It's crafted with care and it is just plain delicious. Get yourself some.

Too good to be true

My wife bought me a bottle of this Westland whisky and all and can say is WOW! I’m usually a bourbon (and beer) drinker and I have a love of scotch. This whisky is a beautifully balanced and has a distinct underlying peatyness like that of a nice scotch. Very original and at the same time a welcome comfort.

Immediately the top bottle in my 25 bottle collection. To the nose - faint smell of baking bananas in the next room. Deep vanilla nutty nughet. It has a long finish with signature Westland coffee, chocolate reminders.

Standout addition to bar!

Got a taste of Westward in NY at the Lyaness residency, made a stunning Manhattan, had to add it to the home bar. Great value for such an elegant Whiskey, and just when you didn't think it could better, there's a stout edition!

McCarthy’s Single Malt- An education in peat.

Living in the U.S. I get really excited at the opportunity to taste an interpretation of Scotch-style whiskey so strongly influenced by my homeland. McCarthy’s Single Malt also combines many of the elements I seek out when choosing from among my favorite Scotches: a mineral earthiness, fruits and bitter chocolate. The peat is (in my opinion) appropriately restrained while still very apparent. Where other peated whisk(e)y seeks to fill my mouth with ash, McCarthy’s uses its peat to transport and complement malt’s other basal notes, conjuring images of orchards and old wood-mills so ubiquitous to the northwest United States. It is a worthy fusion of old and new world distillery magic, dripping with nostalgia for a world that never entirely existed, save for in our thoughts and in our glass. Thank you folks for the epic sip.

Dry with smoky bitter aftertaste

I bought a bottle upon recommendation. Noted that it was only aged for about 5 years it did not have the me to mellow. I believe that the char in the casks coupled by the sherry after taste imparted a dry wheaty flavor in the back end. First sip on the tongue does impart a vanilla sweetness but when swallowed a substandard flavor of smoke and dryness permeates your tongue. I would not recommend this to anyone. At that price stick with a good double sherry casked Scotch like Belvennie 12 year or a good Irish whiskey like knapogue castle 16 year
