About Wyoming Whiskey Barrel Strength

In the small town of Kirby, Wyoming — population 92 — Brad Mead, a fifth-generation rancher whose family first came to Wyoming in 1890, is continuing a tradition of “firsts.” While his family has produced U.S. senators, lawyers, extreme skiers and two governors of Wyoming, Brad, along with his wife Kathy and their son Sam, established the first legal distillery in Wyoming State in 2009, and has been making exceptional, handmade whisky ever since.

Wyoming Whiskey Barrel Strength showcases the best of Wyoming Whiskey. Every couple of years, a barrel displays such balance of aroma, palate, mouthfeel, and finish, that it must be bottled at its barreled proof. A highly-limited and elusive release, this special bottle offers an unparalleled experience.

This Barrel Strength expression comes from barrel #3242, selected for its excellence by Wyoming Whiskey Distiller Sam Mead, with the support of industry specialist Nancy Fraley.

About American Whiskey

There are two main representatives of the American whiskey family, bourbon, and rye, but some other spirits don't fall into those two strictly regulated categories.

There's equally strictly regulated American single malt, made from 100% malted barley, Tennessee whiskey, essentially bourbon filtered through maple charcoal and aged in new charred oak barrels.

And then there's moonshine, a high proof (150- 170 proof) distilled spirit mainly made out of corn which gained popularity during the prohibition.

Check out our impressive selection of American single malts, or find your new favorite in our rich whisk(e)y selection, and get familiarized with what the world has to offer.

Intense aromas, but still buttery-smooth with a nice oakiness, vanilla, Turbinot sugar, orange blossom honey, caramel candy, fudge, and muted touches of clove and nutmeg in the background. The palate is balanced between clove and nutmeg and sweeter notes of fudge, caramel, orange blossom honey, anise, and just a kiss of smokiness that completes the complexity. The finish is romatic and spicy, dominated by clove with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, fudge, orange peel, and anise that come out as the clove fades.
