Stauning Heather Smoked Barley Danish Whisky is a masterpiece made from the local heather-dried barley. Double-distilled in direct-fired pot stills and matured for five years in fortified wine casks and a smoky Islay whisky quarter cask, it's nothing short of extraordinary. The flavor profile is a unique blend of raisins, thyme, lemon, honey, and cereals, with a subtle hint of smoke.

About Stauning Heather Smoked Barley Danish Whisky

A Stunning Whisky Inspired by Gorillas, Volcanoes, and New Friendships.

Stauning, nestled on Denmark's West Coast, is a tranquil farm community where the art of Whisky-making was redefined in 2005 by nine friends with two small pot stills and an abandoned butchery. With a climate mirroring Scotland's Highlands rather than Copenhagen, Stauning was the perfect setting for their whisky adventure. Today, this passion project has transformed into a respected distillery offering 6 core editions, each meticulously crafted with Stauning’s own malted grain.

In the summer of 2023, Flaviar embarked on a creative journey with the Danish Whisky innovators, and one lucky Flaviarista from Rwanda won the sweepstakes! Together with Stauning’s artist, Thit Hansgaard, they crafted a stunning label inspired by Rwanda’s volcanoes and gorillas.
