Smokehead is a single malt Scotch that's sourced from an undisclosed Islay distillery. This expression upgrades the original via finishing in rum casks from the Caribbean. The smoky character gets additional sweet tropical fruit notes and citrusy touches.

About Smokehead Rum Rebel Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Launched in 2006, Smokehead Islay single malt was released by independent bottled Ian Macleod Distillers. While the NAS whisky comes from an undisclosed distillery, it's full of the peat smoke character that Islay is famous for. Smokehead Rum Cask Rebel takes that same whiskey for a round of finishing in Caribbean rum casks, resulting in the familiar peaty character getting a boost of citrus and tropical fruit notes. Bottled at 92 proof, it won a Gold Medal at the 2022 edition of the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

About Scotch
Scotch is the most popular whisky in the world and is considered the king of them all! There are five whisky regions in Scotland (six if you count the not officially recognized Islands), and each of them produces spirits with unique properties and distinct tasting notes. (The type of grain used determents the type of the scotch.)
Malt whisky is made of malted barley, and grain whisky uses other grains like corn or wheat. Most of the time, a whisky is blended from different distilleries hence the name blended scotch, but if a malt whisky is produced in a single distillery, we get something extraordinary called a single malt.
The nose is peaty with citrus, tropical fruit, and bacon. Look for caramel, cinnamon, and vanilla on the palate, along with marshmallows, lemon zest, sea salt, and dried fruit. The smoke persists throughout, lingering on the finish.
