About Rabbit Hole Founder's Collection: Mizunara Cask Strength

Founded by Kaveh Zamanian in 2012, the story behind the beautiful range of award-winning Rabbit Hole spirits is the story of love. After falling in love with his wife Heather, a Louisville native, Zamanian made the leap and left his successful clinical psychologist career. Going down the rabbit hole of researching distilleries and bourbon, Rabbit Hole came to life in Kentucky. Their Bourbon and Rye whiskeys are 100% Kentucky made and the business is family-owned with Zamanian stating that "the art of making whiskey is all about the long game. It’s good to know what I’ve created is in good hands. A family business that will last generations. Together, with Michael, Cameron, and Henri, we are building a legacy one barrel at a time."

Part of the spectacular Mizunara Founder’s Collection, this 15-year-old Cask Strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon Finished in Japanese oak is the second expression of the collection and the oldest and most exquisite in the Rabbit Hole range. Bringing together the best of both terroirs, Rabbit Hole’s rarest Kentucky Straight Bourbon is first aged for 15 years in new charred American oak before spending 1 year in virgin Japanese Mizunara oak, sourced from Ariake Snagyo cooperage in Shochu Island – this brings forward notes of scented wood, mint, and other exotic flavors. This is a superb premium whiskey that is bottled at a cask strength of 114.2 proof.

Kaveh said, "I have long had a desire to explore the impact of terroir on whiskey. By blending and maturing 15-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon in new Japanese Mizunara oak, I set out to push the envelope on innovation, creating a truly unique expression that gives connoisseurs an opportunity to experience the marriage of two whiskey terroirs. It was a bold choice, an act of risk and reward for me to take some of the oldest and finest bourbons from my personal collection and finish it in Mizunara casks. Tasting Notes

A mahogany color. The nose is enticing with rich notes of banana, apple, pear, cherry, black pepper and ming. The palate is packed with flavors of oak, spice, nutmeg, black pepper, tobacco and cinnamon. The finish is luxurious, rich and buttery.
