About Meido Jiu Hai Bu Gan 12 Year Old Single Malt Whisky

At an altitude of over 2,500m on the Tibetan Plateau, under the watchful eye of the Ta’er Monastery, the Huzhujinquan Distillery is breathing life into the world's first Tibet Single Malt, Jiu Hai Bu Gan. This whisky is a true reflection of its Tibetan roots, with the finest barley sourced from the region and native yeasts used in the fermentation process, all brought to life with the purest Himalayan water during distillation and aging. For more than four centuries, the Tibetans have been distilling malted winter barley and upholding their tradition of producing crystal-clear alcohol as a symbol of purity. The distillate gets stored in a porcelain amphora called "Jiu Hai," which imparts a creamy texture with a refreshing citrus twist before bottling. Jiu Hai Bu Gan is double-distilled from a selection of winter barley harvested on the Tibetan plateau during the blooming season of the Meido flower, a revered symbol of Tibetan culture. The whisky is aged for 9 to 30 years in a Jiu Hai within a Tibetan monastery built by the 3rd Dalai Lama, followed by a finishing process in ex-Bourbon American and French oak barrels for 38 months. This remarkable spirit pours out in a beautiful amber color with golden hues and a complex aroma of vanilla and dried fruits.
