About Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series BRT-02 2022 Release
Maker's Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky (spelled without an "e" to honor the founder's family’s Scottish heritage) is distilled from a mash of corn, wheat, and malted barley, with the actual “makers” of Maker’s Mark still rotating the barrels in the distillery’s warehouses, bottling the whisky and dipping the bottles in wax — all by hand. Their Wood Finishing Series is on its 4th release, with the 2022 offering consisting of BRT-01 and BRT-02. The two are meant to be enjoyed as a pair, with BRT standing for "hand-barrel rotation". The whiskey duo explores how barrel rotation and temperature influence the production process, with BRT-01 showcasing the tasting notes that come from the barrels at the hotter top of the rickhouse, while BRT-02 comes from barrels that mature at the cooler bottom. Together, they're the perfect way to "taste your way through the rickhouse". Bottled at a cask strength of 109.4, BRT-02 is further enriched with the addition of French oak staves. Where the intense heat at the top of the warehouse makes for big and bold whiskey, the cooler bottom brings darker and heavier notes with chocolate and fruit.

About Maker's Mark
Maker’s Mark Handmade Kentucky Straight Bourbon On October 1, 1953, William Samuels Sr. purchased Burks Distillery, which was situated in Loretto, Kentucky, for $35,000. Five years later, the distillery released the first bottles of Maker’s Mark Bourbon Whisky, which featured the distillery’s distinctive red wax seal.
The distillery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and was listed as a National Historic Landmark in 1980. Made from a mash of corn, wheat, and malted barley, Maker’s Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky (spelled without an "e" to honor the Samuels family’s Scottish heritage) manages to marry large-scale, global production with a rich tradition in a way that few other distilleries can rival. The actual "makers" of Maker’s Mark still rotate the barrels in the distillery’s warehouses, bottle the whisky and dip the bottles in wax — all by hand.
There are not many things more American than bourbon, and although most of it is produced in Kentucky, it can be produced all over the USA. It must be made with at least 51% corn and bottled at 40% ABV or higher. So why not give this American classic a try?
The nose is oaky with molasses and nuttiness. Dark fruit and chocolate are prominent on the palate with baking spices and brown sugar providing balance. The finish is long with a pleasant balance of fruit and spice.
