About Dumas Rum

The Dumas Rum brand aims to capture what rum is all about ― tradition and the art of meticulous distillation. The rum is produced at the Dragon Distillery, the first distillery to open its doors in Frederick, Maryland. It's a Spanish-style rum that starts with a molasses base, where only the finest molasses are used. It's a blend of both pot-still and column-still rums, bringing both styles together in harmony. The pot-still rum brings richness, depth, and complexity, while the column-still rum adds refinement and balance to the mix. The 14-year rum then spends 14 years in American oak casks that used to hold whiskey, before finally being bottled at 80 proof. Look for notes of caramel, vanilla, and spice.

About Rum

Rum history allegedly started in the Carribiens in the 17th century when they started to ferment and distill molasses, a byproduct of sugar production. Most of the Rum is aged in oak or ex-wine casks, giving its color and flavor.

We distinguish between 4 different Rum categories, where white or unaged rum is mainly used in cocktails, while dark, spiced, and añejo (aged) rum are mostly enjoyed neat.
