About Castle & Key 2022 Small Batch 6 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
In 2022, Castle & Key, a small distillery from Kentucky, released 6 batches of Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey that was distilled and bottled in-house. Each batch is blended using a series of pods and each pod is created by grouping barrels to create a sensory profile. Castle & Key focuses on finding the best expression of the barrels rather than trying to enforce a consistent flavor profile, letting Blended from a pod of 50 barrels, this small batch straight bourbon consists of a mashbill of 73% white corn, 10% rye, and 17% malted barley. It was distilled in a Vendome copper column still and aged for a minimum of 4 years before being bottled at ABV 48.5%. This is a fun and light bourbon from a distillery that has just started to find its own path. It is a solid mouthful with some interesting and complex flavors that will have you craving more.

About Bourbon
There are not many things more American than bourbon, and although most of it is produced in Kentucky, it can be produced all over the USA. It must be made with at least 51% corn and bottled at 40% ABV or higher. So why not give this American classic a try?
Batch Nr 6 has a full but light nose with notes of charred oak, stone fruits, raisin, vanilla, and hone. On the palate, notes of lemongrass, grain, and raisins are followed by some vanilla and white pepper. The finish is surprisingly sweet with some caramel and charred oak.
