About Castle & Key 2022 Small Batch 5 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Eight years after its founding in 2014, Castle & Key distillery was finally ready to present the one spirit that has the potential to bring the distillery to new heights. In 2022, the distillery released 6 batches of Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey that was distilled and bottled by Castle & Key. Each batch is blended using a series of pods and each pod is created by grouping barrels to create a sensory profile. Castle & Key focuses on finding the best expression of the barrels rather than forcing a consistent flavor profile. Batch Nr 5, considered one of their best releases to date, consists of a mashbill of 73% white corn, 10% rye, and 17% malted barley. It consists of 60 barrels that were aged for 4 years before being bottled at an ABV of 50%. This Bourbon has a great creamy texture and well-balanced flavors that make for an exceptional mouthful.

There are not many things more American than bourbon, and although most of it is produced in Kentucky, it can be produced all over the USA. It must be made with at least 51% corn and bottled at 40% ABV or higher. So why not give this American classic a try?
On the nose, sweet aromas of baked peach and apple are followed by gentle floral and minty notes, some toast, chocolate, cinnamon, and walnuts. Taste buds are first awakened by buttered toffee and salted peanut, following are peach, mint, graham crackers, and cinnamon. The finish is light and peppery.
