The spirit spent 2 years in its American white oak cask (no. 2073) before being transferred into a freshly harvested apple brandy barrel, where it spent another 2 and a half years. This results in a fruity 119-proof expression that's ― naturally ― available in very limited quantity.

About Black Button
In 2012, Jason Barrett became the head distiller and founder of Black Button Distilling – at only 24 years old. Coming from a family of the finest men's suit buttons makers, worn by "Presidents, Popes, Kings, and Businessmen the world over", Barret worked in his grandfather’s factory when he was younger, but soon realized he wanted to carve out his own path.
After graduating, Barrett returned to his hometown of Rochester, New York, to follow his passion – make whiskey and open a craft distillery, the first in Rochester since Prohibition times. Named Black Button because of a family inside joke – Barret is color blind and the family always joked that they’d need to produce only black buttons if we were to take over the family business – every small batch of Black Button spirits is made from local NY grains with over 90% of ingredients grown or produced in New York State. Everything from corn, wheat, rye, and barley to dairy cream and apple cider comes from family farms in New York State to support local and sustainable agriculture. They even grow their own juniper for Black Button gin at the Black Button Farm in South Bristol. Besides whiskey and gin, Black Button’s wide range includes vodka, moonshine, and liqueur.
There are not many things more American than bourbon, and although most of it is produced in Kentucky, it can be produced all over the USA. It must be made with at least 51% corn and bottled at 40% ABV or higher. So why not give this American classic a try?
The nose has gentle spice notes along with floral and pine aromas, hints of licorice, and candy apple. It's full-bodied with sweet ripe apples and honey on the palate. The finish is long with lingering oak, baking spice, and dry apple notes.
