About Barrell Craft Spirits Gold Label 2021 Edition Bourbon Whiskey

Barrell Craft Spirits' never ending quest for exceptional barrels and batches of whiskey often leads them to some particularly well-aged whiskey. In 2018, these were gathered under the Gray Label banner, while 2021 saw them release an even more premium whiskey ― the Gold Label 2021 Edition Bourbon Whiskey. It's a blend of bourbons aged 16 and 17 years that were distilled in Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. These come from 4 different collections: rich, cherry-forward casks, nutty & oaky ones, complex & high-proof ones, and chocolaty ones that were additionally matured in virgin oak. The resulting blend is wonderfully mature, fruity, and complex, with a smoothness that belies the cask strength of 113.54 proof.

Tasting Notes

Oaky aromas lead the charge on the nose with sugarcane, cinnamon, and tobacco, followed by earthy, smoky, and plenty of fruity notes of rhubarb, cherry, apricot, and papaya. The palate is sweet with ginger, marmalade, and creamy custard, key lime pie, and juicy fruit. The finish is floral and fruity with a healthy dose of oak spice.
