About Turquoise Bay Amber RumDiscover the Island signature Collection – a range of four vintage rums from the Island of Mauritius, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and Guatemala. Each of the rums is a complex blend of premium rums from different distilleries, revealing the complexity of origins of rum and unique tastes as well as the essence of the terroir of individual islands. Blended and crafted in France, the collection includes Tierra Madre Guatemala rum, Yellow Snake Jamaican Amber Rum, Anacaona Gran Reserva Rum from Santo Domingo and Turquoise Bay Amber Rum from the island of Mauritius.
Since the 17th century, Mauritius has a rich and longstanding tradition of growing sugar cane. A tropical paradise, the island is situated off the southeast coast of the African continent in the Indian Ocean and has been holding an important position on the trade route to India. Turquoise Bay Amber Rum is the jewel that reflects the beauty and the atmosphere of the island. A blend of old traditional molasses rums and a touch of rhum agricole or pure sugar cane rums, it’s finished in French and American oak barrels. Smooth and elegantly aromatic, this traditionally crafted rum has a nose full of notes of sugar cane, hot sugar and honey pastries. The palate is full and mellow with a delicate dance of notes of pastries, Virginia tobacco and wood.
Turquoise Bay Amber Rum was awarded Gold at the 2018 Grand Concours des Spiritueux, Silver at the 2018 International Wine & Spirit Competition, Silver Medal at the 2019 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and Bronze at the 2019 IWSC.

Rum history allegedly started in the Carribiens in the 17th century when they started to ferment and distill molasses, a byproduct of sugar production. Most of the Rum is aged in oak or ex-wine casks, giving its color and flavor.
We distinguish between 4 different Rum categories, where white or unaged rum is mainly used in cocktails, while dark, spiced, and añejo (aged) rum are mostly enjoyed neat.
