El Recuerdo Mezcal is crafted with choice espadin agave using traditional techniques. The agave is cooked over river rocks using pine and oak wood ― both collected sustainably ― the rocks come from higher elevations of Oaxaca's valley rivers, the wood is certified by the Mexican ministry of environmental protection. El Recuerdo Mezcal 5"KO Reposado is a limited-edition expression that pays tribute to the legendary UFC match where Jorge "Gamebred" Masvidal (Recuerdo Mezcal shareholder) recorded the fastest knockout in UFC history, only 5 seconds into the fight. The expression spent 5 months in American oak and is the only mezcal with 5 gusanos (agave worms) that are known to add smoothness to the spirit.

About Recuerdo Mezcal

Mezcal, a spirit that can be distilled from more than 14 known agaves, has been around for more than 400 years. Due to its designation of origin, it can only be produced in 9 states of Mexico, the most representative being Oaxaca.

About Mezcal

Mezcal is a distilled spirit made from roasted agave plants between two days and two weeks, which gives it a distinct smokey flavor.
What scotch is for whisk(e)y, mezcal is for tequila.

It can be made from different types of agave in different parts of Mexico, but most of it (60%) comes from the state of Oaxaca. Mezcal offers a large diversity of flavor profiles and ranges between 40 and 55% ABV.

Tasting Notes

The nose leads with cooked agave, herbal, citrus, vanilla, chocolate, and wood notes. The palate is fruity and fresh with cooked agave balanced by a distinct bitter-sweetness, hints of acidity and brine, as well as a touch of smoke. The finish is crisp, spicy, and gently warming.
