About Campante Joven, Espadin & Barril Mezcal

Crafted in Oaxaca, Mexico, Mezcal Campante Joven is an artisanal spirit that draws from the rich history and tradition of mezcal production in the region. It's a celebration of the local culture, music, food, and tradition, paying tribute to the community and adopting sustainable practices. Every step of the process is in tune with nature, from the agave harvest to the reusing of its fibers. "Blending the traditions of Mexico and mezcal making with today’s culture, we have created a drink to celebrate all the small and major moments of life."

The small-batch mezcal is crafted under the watchful eye of Maestro Mezcalero Raúl Rodríguez Reyes in Ejutla, Oaxaca from ripe espadin and barril agaves. The process is grounded in tradition, craftsmanship, and history. The mature agave hearts are cooked for several days in conical stone ovens, covered by soil and dried pulp. and ground with a traditional tahona mill. The fermentation takes place in a wood sabino, followed by a double distillation in copper stills. While both varietals are cooked together, they are distilled separately and cold blended together in the end. Bottled at 80 proof, it's a balanced, smoky, fruity, and bright spirit that is a smooth sipper as well as a delicious cocktail base.

About Mezcal

Mezcal is a distilled spirit made from roasted agave plants between two days and two weeks, which gives it a distinct smokey flavor.
What scotch is for whisk(e)y, mezcal is for tequila.

It can be made from different types of agave in different parts of Mexico, but most of it (60%) comes from the state of Oaxaca. Mezcal offers a large diversity of flavor profiles and ranges between 40 and 55% ABV.

Tasting Notes

It's a balanced expression with smoky notes upfront, followed by cooked agave, vanilla, caramel, and hints of chocolate and herbs with floral touches. The palate is sweet and fruity with bright citrus notes, culminating in a smooth, crisp, and gently smoky finish.
