About MacNair's Lum Reek 12 Year Old Peated Blended Malt Scotch Whisky

MacNair's blended Scotch range is a showcase of the single malt components, wood management policy, and the skill of Master Blender Billy Walker. Their Lum Reek Blended Scotch Whiskies are crafted with Islay and Speyside single malts, making for complex expressions with a balance of peated and unpeated Scotch. The name comes from the old Scottish saying "lang may yer lum reek" which translates to "long may your chimney smoke" ― a traditional way of wishing a long and prosperous life upon someone. Lum Reek 12 Year Old contains peated and unpeated single malts. Some of it comes from The GlenAllachie Distillery, where the expression was matured in a combination of 1st-fill bourbon, PX sherry, and red wine casks. Bottled without chill-filtration and added coloring at 92 proof, the blended Scotch has received several prestigious awards, including a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

About Scotch

Tasting Notes

The nose is sweet and peaty with butterscotch, vanilla, fruit, mocha, and a touch of nutmeg. The palate is equally sweet and gently floral with heather honey, toffee, dried red fruit, spices, and peat that lingers on the finish.
