About Mackmyra Intelligens AI:02 Swedish Single Malt Whisky

Established in 1999, Mackmyra Svensk Whisky produces quintessentially Swedish whisky that's made with local barley, spring water, and Swedish oak. They distill at 2 distilleries today: the original Mackmyra Bruk distillery and an innovative and eco-friendly Gravity Distillery which employs gravity in order to reduce the carbon footprint. Intelligens started with a meeting between the distillery and Microsoft. Microsoft's partner Fourkind began work with Mackmyra, creating an AI solution that began to learn from Mackmyra's Master Blender. The recipes became the Intelligens series and this expression is the second edition. The elegant Swedish single malt was matured in 1st-fill ex-bourbon casks, oloroso sherry casks, virgin American oak, and virgin Swedish oak casks.

About Mackmyra

Located 100 miles north of the city of Stockholm (outside the town of Gavle), Mackmyra Distillery is putting Swedish Single Malt Whisky on the map. The distillery, co-founded by eight classmates from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, opened its doors in 2002. "We had a dream to create the first Swedish malt whisky," says Rikard Lundborg, one of the cofounders of Mackmyra Distillery. "We followed our path and developed the whisky from its origin. That path was very slow and incredibly difficult, but it was the right path, because we reached our goal: a Swedish malt whisky with a unique identity."

Tasting Notes

The nose is fruity with pear aromas balanced by honey and butterscotch. Look for vanilla, citrus zest, and hints of peppery spice on the palate with a distinct oakiness, as well as touches of peat and juniper. The finish is fruity, sweet, and oaky with gentle smoke.
