About Springbank 12 Year Old Cask Strength 2021 Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Springbank Whisky has been distilled at the Scottish Springbank Distillers since 1828. It's the distillery's flagship whisky brand and a spirit that is crafted with lightly peated barley and a two-and-a-half-times distillation process. The 2021 edition of the Springbank 12 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt is bottled at a cask strength of 111.8 proof after being matured in ex-bourbon barrels, making for a balanced whisky that is smooth, creamy, and fruity. It opens up beautifully with a drop or two of water, which brings out additional milk chocolate and vanilla notes.

About Scotch
Scotch is the most popular whisky in the world and is considered the king of them all! There are five whisky regions in Scotland (six if you count the not officially recognized Islands), and each of them produces spirits with unique properties and distinct tasting notes. (The type of grain used determents the type of the scotch.)
Malt whisky is made of malted barley, and grain whisky uses other grains like corn or wheat. Most of the time, a whisky is blended from different distilleries hence the name blended scotch, but if a malt whisky is produced in a single distillery, we get something extraordinary called a single malt.
The nose is smoky with peat, aniseed, and medicinal aromas, with a pleasant sweetness, toffee, butterscotch, and a touch of nuttiness. Look for chocolate and toffee on the creamy palate with a touch of citrus zest and delicate peat. The finish is deceptively smooth and bright with citrus, ginger, and lingering peat smoke.
