About Sourland Mountain Spirits Lavender Gin
In 2015, craft distilling was legalized in New Jersey. It was around that time that Ray Disch was searching for a new challenge. With a vision of creating handcrafted spirits, he launched the Sourland Mountain Spirits Distillery. Located on the Double Brook Farm in Hopewell, New Jersey, the site is home to Troon Brewing and Brick Farm Tavern & Bar, meaning that grain-to-glass spirits are produced right next to the beer, with a pasture-to-fork restaurant right there on the premises as well. In 2017, with the help of his wife Erica, Disch produced their first bottle of spirit and the awards for their gin started pouring in.
Their range of spirits now includes corn-based vodka and gin, rum, brandy, and bourbon, all crafted with the purest filtered New Jersey mountain water. There, in the Sourland Mountains, the family-owned craft distilling operation distills, ages, fills, and labels each bottle by hand. Tours and tastings are available on the weekends, while the tavern offers dining with everything on the menu being local and sustainably produced. 1$ from each bottle of Sourland Mountain Spirits sold is donated to the Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice. The distillery was named "NJ's Gin Distillery of the Year" at the New York Spirits Competition in 2017.
Sourland Mountain Spirits Lavender Gin takes its inspiration from the London dry style of gins. It's crafted with neutral grain spirit and botanicals that include New Jersey lavender, juniper, sweet orange, lemon, and butterfly pea flower. The lavender is sourced from Hidden Spring Lavender and Alpaca farm. The 90-proof expression brings together delicious juniper and citrus notes, along with prominent floral lavender aromas.
