About Sephina
Sephina Spirits was created by Ken Gilbert in search of upgrading fortified wine with a brown Spirit for extra warmth and richness. He found his inspiration in the luscious Josephine Baker cocktail. Made from a combination of Cognac, Port Wine, fruit liqueurs, and an egg, the unique drink was created in 1943 at the infamous Bar Florida in Havana, Cuba, to celebrate the legendary performer, activist, spy, and first Black female superstar.
Leaving out the liqueurs and egg, Sephina is an extravagant craft Spirit blend of 56% V.S.O.P. Cognac and 44% Pineau Des Charentes fortified wine. The 30% ABV drink is sweet but not cloying and is best enjoyed chilled neat or on the rocks.
Packed inside an extravagant bottle design, featuring a 1920’s Art Deco-stylized portmanteau of Josephine storied life, it’s a presentation worthy of the grandiose entertainer, a decorated citizen of France who spied on Germany, a philanthropist, and a civil rights activist.
Sephina is produced at a family company located in the heart of the Cognac region in France with roots dating back to 1777.
