About Lejana Y Sola Mezcal
"Lejana y sola" means "far away and alone". It's a verse from Andalusian poet Federico Lorca's poem called Il Canción del Jinete (The Horseman's Song) about a lone horseman riding towards Córdoba, knowing he isn't going to survive the journey. We know that life is finite and one must learn to enjoy life. It's this thought that Lejana Y Sola Mezcal takes its inspiration from.Lejana Y Sola is a traditional Mezcal, crafted with artisanal methods. No electricity is used, as the Espadin and rare Cuishe agaves are roasted in a stone-lined fire pit and crushed using a horse-drawn tahona mill. The fermentation takes place in wooden tanks before the liquid is double distilled in a copper alembic still. The small palenque where the Mezcal is produced lies in a mountainous area two hours from Oaxaca, called Lachilá. This Mezcal marks the first time that the family has exported their spirit to the US.
Lejana Y Sola is an ensemble Mezcal, meaning that it is a blend of 2 agaves: the espadin and cuishe. The latter is known for its complex aromas and flavors that contribute to the milder espadin, resulting in a unique spirit. Bottled at 84 proof, the smooth Mezcal has gentle smoke and sweet agave notes with spice, earth, and musk.

About Mezcal
Mezcal is a distilled spirit made from roasted agave plants between two days and two weeks, which gives it a distinct smokey flavor.
What scotch is for whisk(e)y, mezcal is for tequila.
It can be made from different types of agave in different parts of Mexico, but most of it (60%) comes from the state of Oaxaca. Mezcal offers a large diversity of flavor profiles and ranges between 40 and 55% ABV.
