About Labiette Castille
Founded in 1898 by an influential French statesman, the single estate that produces Labiette Castille Bas Armagnacs was purchased by the Lesgourges family in 1974. It is situated in the Bas Armagnac region, famous for having one of the finest terroirs of the Armagnac AOC (appellation d'origine contrôlée ― controlled designation of origin).
Located at the foot of the Pyrenees Mountains, the terroir features a mix of sand and clay that is perfect for vineyards ― on their 260 acres of vineyards you can find Ugni Blanc, Baco, Colombard, and Folle Blanche varieties. The environmentally friendly and sustainable estate has a flock of sheep grazing throughout, providing natural organic fertilizer. In 1998 a 40-acre forest was planted, providing oak for their very own cooperage. They pride themselves on their premium Armagnac with an emphasis on traceability, authenticity, and environmental friendliness. The design of the brand features a tribute to D'Artagnan, the famous musketeer.
The aromas are layered with orange zest, prune, cinnamon, cocoa, hazelnut, candied fruit, and a touch of nuttiness with almonds. The notes are mirrored on the palate that is equally complex and exquisitely balanced, culminating in a long and elegant finish.
