About Jefferson's Marian McLain Blended Bourbon Whiskey

Inspired by Trey Zoeller’s (Jefferson’s co-founder) 8th-generation grandmother and one of the first bootleggers in the business - Madam was arrested for booze-making back in 1799 - Jefferson's Marian McLain Blended Bourbon Whiskey is a spectacular blend of five bold whiskeys that come together in a heavenly symphony of flavors. Forty percent of the blend consists of 11-year-old KY straight bourbon whiskey with the baking-goods-forward flavor profile, 20% is 14-year-old TN straight bourbon whiskey with a strong peppery finish, another 17% is Rum cask finish that brings some vanilla into the mixture, 14% is wheated double barrel with sweet honey and caramel notes, and the final 8% is a KY 8-year-old straight bourbon whiskey with some powerful red fruit. This smooth and complex blend is bottled at an ABV of 50.5% and is best enjoyed neat or on the rocks.

About Jefferson's

The principal author of the Declaration of Independence and one of the most illustrious founding fathers, Thomas Jefferson was elected the third President of the United States in 1800. During his tenure as President, Jefferson authorized the purchase of the Louisiana Territory, dispatched Lewis and Clark westward to explore the remainder of the continent, and repealed the Whiskey Excise Tax.

After Jefferson retired from public office in 1815, he often tended to the garden that he had cultivated at his Monticello estate. At the time, it was customary for wealthy farmers, including Jefferson, to make their own garden spirits. Each farmer's spirits were unique and reflected their personal tastes and the local terroir of their farm. Jefferson's Reserve Very Old Straight Bourbon Whiskey is crafted by Chet and Trey Zoeller in honor of Jefferson and his experimental nature. While the Zoellers were inspired by Jefferson, their roots can be traced back for generations deep into Kentucky's bourbon history.

This golden amber spirit has a big oily body and a great depth of flavor. On the nose, bourbon is dessert forward with strong notes of vanilla custard, cocoa, honeycomb apple, citrus peel, and banana. The palate is rich and complex with nutty and fruity notes that receive great support in earthy oak. There are notes of banana, brown sugar, toasted pecans, raspberries, and cinnamon. The finish is long and lingering and offers notes of nuts, citrus, oak, and ash.
