About Hamilton 151 Demerara Overproof Rum

Ed Hamilton, known as "Minister of Rum" founded Hamilton Rum around the core values of quality, accessibility, and transparency. Hamilton 151 Demerara Overproof Rum is a unique blend of aged rums that are distilled in Guyana at the Diamond Distillery, a part of Demerara Distillers Ltd. All the molasses used for the production of the rum comes from Guyana and contains 65% dissolved sugar ― one of the highest sugar contents in the Caribbean. The blend of both pot and continuous still rums is imported and brought to the Five & 20 Distillery in Westfield, NY, where it is bottled at a whopping 151 proof. There is no sugar or coloring added.

About Rum

Rum history allegedly started in the Carribiens in the 17th century when they started to ferment and distill molasses, a byproduct of sugar production. Most of the Rum is aged in oak or ex-wine casks, giving its color and flavor.

We distinguish between 4 different Rum categories, where white or unaged rum is mainly used in cocktails, while dark, spiced, and añejo (aged) rum are mostly enjoyed neat.
