About Fable Storm 12 Year Old Chapter Nine Auchroisk Scotch Whisky
A relatively young distillery, Auchroisk was founded in 1974, releasing their first single malt bottling in 1986. Noted for its subtle and soft fruitiness at the time, the folks at Fable Whisky were looking for just that when they were selecting casks for their single-cask release. Fable is an independent Scottish bottler that was founded by industry veterans Andrew Torrance and Calum Lawrie with a focus on bridging the gap between quality Scotch and "the art of storytelling, animation, and illustration". The second part is provided by writer Des Waddy and visual artist Hugo Cuellar, while the whisky for this release comes from Auchroisk, where it was distilled in 2009. After spending 12 years in its single hogshead (cask no. 803670), the whisky was bottled in 2021 without chill-filtration or added coloring. Fable released a scant 307 bottles of this single-cask whisky as Chapter Nine: Storm. It's a flavorful and nuanced single malt with notes of grain, nuts, honey, plenty of citrus, and a pleasant sweetness throughout.

About Scotch
Scotch is the most popular whisky in the world and is considered the king of them all! There are five whisky regions in Scotland (six if you count the not officially recognized Islands), and each of them produces spirits with unique properties and distinct tasting notes. (The type of grain used determents the type of the scotch.)
Malt whisky is made of malted barley, and grain whisky uses other grains like corn or wheat. Most of the time, a whisky is blended from different distilleries hence the name blended scotch, but if a malt whisky is produced in a single distillery, we get something extraordinary called a single malt.
The nose is grainy and nutty with a touch of sweetness, dough, honey, and marzipan. The palate is warm with citrus that ranges from orange and tangerine to lemon. Sweetness, barley, and dried herbs are followed by a dry, bitter, and citrusy finish that ends on a sweet note.
