Andy and Sonny Sran are two brothers who co-founded the Sran Spirits company, building on their family's rich tradition of spirit crafting in India. The family roots in Punjab, northwest India, go back to the early 1800s, settling in the region due to the unique climate, lush farmland, and abundant water supplies. The farmers turned to distilling at the turn of the 20th century, creating unique recipes and techniques that were passed down through generations. Despite Indian prohibitions regarding alcohol production, Andy and Sonny's father produced the spirit in secret, intended for family, friends, and guests.
After working in technology, the brothers decided to make the switch in 2019, funding the Scottsdale, Arizona-based company entirely out of their own pockets and continuing their family legacy. "Daru" is Hindi for "alcoholic beverage" and the first of many products to come in the future. The whiskey is distilled in Canada from 100% corn and aged at least 3 years in rare Canadian oak barrels, before being filtered through activated charcoal, resulting in a smooth and balanced expression.
Whiskey origin dates back to Ireland more than 600 years ago and has become the fastest-growing spirit category on the planet since then.
It is produced worldwide from scotch, Irish whiskey, bourbon, rye, Japanese whisky, and other types. Each has a distinct flavor profile due to numerous factors from different types of climate, ingredients, distilling methods, and the aging process.
The nose is intense with notes of corn, hints of mint, and minerality. The palate has a delicate honey sweetness, fruity notes, and vanilla, culminating in a smooth finish.
