About Chapter 7 Monologue 24 Year Old Glen Grant 1998 Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Evin lets lesser-known distilleries and their casks take the spotlight, revealing hidden gems with exceptional quality and character. With a team of whisky experts, the final selection is the product of collaborations with several different suppliers, service providers, and trade partners. Chapter 7 has three series of expressions: Monologue, Anecdote, and Prologue. The first are unique single casks, the second once-in-a-lifetime small batches or married atypical whiskies, the third consists of younger malts.

The 20th release in the Monologue series comes from Glen Grant, a Speyside distillery that was founded in 1840 by brothers John and James Grant. The distillery is known for using crisp Scottish barley, much of it still harvested from the same Morayshire fields that John and James Grant used nearly two centuries ago. Each of the Glen Grant stills is equipped with a purifier — Glen Grant is the only distillery in Scotland to use purifiers in both distillations — results in whisky that has a signature fresh and malty flavor. This expression is a particularly well-aged one, having spent 24 years in the single bourbon hogshead. Distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2022, it's a light yet complex and layered whisky that was bottled at 102.2 proof without added coloring and chill-filtration.

About Chapter 7

Chapter 7 is an independent bottler's brand created in 2014, in Switzerland by Selim Evin, as a passion project dedicated to whisky. Inspired by his grandfather’s love of whisky, Evin started off by bottling single casks from Scotland's lesser known distilleries. Whiskies that laid foundations for well known brands, but where nevertheless, not very well known. Driven by sheer curiosity, Evin uncovered whiskies from Scotland, Ireland, and eventually began vatting them, "exploring the fascinating world of blending."

Chapter 7’s Master blenders marry the hand-selected spirit in large vats. Selim Evin travels to Scotland and Ireland to hand select single casks from the inventories of the world’s greatest distilleries. Then he custom bottles each one with its own story. Every cask of Chapter 7 Whisky has its own unique character. From the wood, age, temperature, to its location in the rickhouse.

About Scotch

Scotch is the most popular whisky in the world and is considered the king of them all! There are five whisky regions in Scotland (six if you count the not officially recognized Islands), and each of them produces spirits with unique properties and distinct tasting notes. (The type of grain used determents the type of the scotch.)

Malt whisky is made of malted barley, and grain whisky uses other grains like corn or wheat. Most of the time, a whisky is blended from different distilleries hence the name blended scotch, but if a malt whisky is produced in a single distillery, we get something extraordinary called a single malt.
