About SelvaRey Owner's Reserve Rum

Founded by superstar Bruno Mars who co-owns the brand with his brothers Seth, Marc Gold, and Robert Herzig, SelvaRey is a premium single-estate rum, made in the jungles of Panama – at the exact spot where North America meets South America and the Atlantic meets Pacific. With plenty of heat and rain, the region provides ideal conditions for sugarcane to thrive. SelvaRey, which means “the king of the jungle”, is made personally by one of the most renowned maestro ronero in the world, Don “Pancho” Francisco Fernandez, at his distillery in Panama. All steps of the production process, from hand-harvesting sugarcane to bottling, are tightly controlled. Mars has also designed and chosen “the logo, bottle shape, colors, materials, iconography, and every inch of the Owner’s Reserve gift box”.

For the instantly sold out SelvaRey Owner’s Reserve, Fernandez has hand-selected his finest aged rums among his best vintage blends, aged between 15 and 25 years. Blended and aged together in American oak barrels, the final result is a deliciously smooth rum blend, bottled at a pleasant 80 proof. This fine rum offers aromas of caramelized brown sugar and pipe tobacco on the nose while the silky-smooth palate boasts notes of Pedro Ximenez sherry, and orange peel. The finish offers lingering baked apple crumble and roasted Brazilian nut.

About Rum

Rum history allegedly started in the Carribiens in the 17th century when they started to ferment and distill molasses, a byproduct of sugar production. Most of the Rum is aged in oak or ex-wine casks, giving its color and flavor.

We distinguish between 4 different Rum categories, where white or unaged rum is mainly used in cocktails, while dark, spiced, and añejo (aged) rum are mostly enjoyed neat.

Tasting Notes

The enticing nose begins with sweet aromas of caramelized brown sugar, pipe tobacco, and Pedro Ximenez sherry. The palate is silky-smooth with orange peel and apple crumble. The finish is elegant with a touch of Brazilian nut.
