About Pinhook 2022 High Proof Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey

Annually, Pinhook unveils a fresh batch of bourbons and ryes that capture the essence of their barrels at that specific time and are devoted to a promising up-and-coming racehorse. Meticulously selected barrels are blended in small quantities and expertly proofed, with each of their vintages boasting an individuality that's as distinctive as the steed on its label. In 2022, Pinhook paired their High Proof Rye with Rye Munny, a mare sired by Munnings, and Sunning Ghost, by Ghostzapper. Bottled just shy of cask strength, the 2022 High Proof Rye offers a gentle, fragrant bouquet of orange blossom, honeysuckle, green apple, and baking spice, followed by a rich, savory palate of walnuts, dates, spiced caramel, and white pepper. The mash bill consists of 20% corn, 60% rye, and 20% malted barley, and just like all of Pinhook's other varieties, it's unfiltered and ready to rumble.

About Pinhook

Lovingly handcrafted and aged in Kentucky, Pinhook Bourbon was established in 2014 and has produced several small batch bottlings in their newly restored Castle & Key distillery in Frankfort, KY, to much critical acclaim. What makes their line unique is the brand’s three distinctive characteristics: its limited availability, mass appeal and strong ties to Kentucky’s legacy of horse racing. Each release of Pinhook Bourbon is named after a thoroughbred owned by Bourbon Lane Stable. The label also features the horses’ racing records on their brand’s website.

About Rye

As American as the bald eagle, rye whiskey was first brewed in the American Northeast in the 1600s. Even George Washington distilled it after leaving the Oval Office, so there’s no way of denying its origin.
It’s distinguished from bourbon for its original and unique spicy notes.

By law, rye whiskey must be made from at least 51% rye grain, aged in new and charred oak barrels for at least two years, and bottled at no more than 62,5% ABV.
