About Brinley Gold Shipwreck

Bob Brinley started distilling rum on the island of St. Kitts in 1986, naming his company "Shipwreck" after an actual shipwreck of a British troop transport ship just off St. Kitts in 1782. The sinking of the ship most likely took place during a famous sea-battle when Admiral Rodney defeated the French under DeGrasse.

In 2002, Brinley’s son joined the family business. The Father-Son team now has 30 years experience making. Together they produce a full range of flavored delicious molasses-based rums, including their signature Spiced, Vanilla, Coconut, Mango, Coffee, and unique Coconut Cream varieties.

About Rum

Rum history allegedly started in the Carribiens in the 17th century when they started to ferment and distill molasses, a byproduct of sugar production. Most of the Rum is aged in oak or ex-wine casks, giving its color and flavor.

We distinguish between 4 different Rum categories, where white or unaged rum is mainly used in cocktails, while dark, spiced, and añejo (aged) rum are mostly enjoyed neat.
