About Blackened "The Empire State" Cask Strength Limited Edition
Both masters in their respective fields, Metallica, the heavy metal band, and the late Master Distiller Dave Pickerell, considered the founding father of craft distilling, joined forces and presented to the world Blackened whiskey. Sharing their creative fire, they crafted an unconventional whiskey, made with a process like no other.
Dave Pickerell was interested in how sound could affect substances on a molecular level. Teaming up with Metallica and their long-time collaborators ― the innovating sound-engineering wizards Meyer Sound ― they created a special subwoofer that would transfer vibrations efficiently through the casks. They dubbed this proprietary process Black Noise, trademarked it, then proceeded to play tracks by Metallica ― chosen specifically for each batch by the band themselves ― to the whiskey.
Their signature release, Blackened "The Empire State" Cask Strength is a super-premium blend of bourbons and ryes with an average age of more than 8 years. Carefully selected by Master Distiller and Blender Rob Dietrich, the whiskey was finished in black brandy casks. Using their proprietary Black Noise process, Rob Dietrich curated a Metallica playlist, available on their website, to "bring the whiskey to life". Bottled at cask strength of 115.57 proof, this exceptional dram is adored for its smooth and sweet palate of honey, cinnamon, allspice, dark fruit, clove, and mint flavors.

About American Whiskey
There are two main representatives of the American whiskey family, bourbon, and rye, but some other spirits don't fall into those two strictly regulated categories.
There's equally strictly regulated American single malt, made from 100% malted barley, Tennessee whiskey, essentially bourbon filtered through maple charcoal and aged in new charred oak barrels.
And then there's moonshine, a high proof (150- 170 proof) distilled spirit mainly made out of corn which gained popularity during the prohibition.
Check out our impressive selection of American single malts, or find your new favorite in our rich whisk(e)y selection, and get familiarized with what the world has to offer.
