Disappointed
I absolutely LOVE absinthe, so I set out to try as many as I could find, which has generally been a frustrating challenge. I had high hopes for this one, based on reviews (on other sites) and the elevated price. But price doesn’t always equate to preference, and I’m disappointed. I can’t criticize the overall quality of the product, because it has a “sophisticated” flavor. It’s just not a flavor that suits my palate. What I taste is less anise than most absinthes, and more of a cognac kind of flavor additive. Not my cup of tea at all. So I did what I often do, even with some preferable absinthes. . . . I added Dr McGillicuddy’s Root Beer Schnapps. And for those of you who like both licorice flavor AND root beer flavor, it is the best flavor combination ever! Still my go-to drink for greatest tasting cocktail ever! But with Lucid absinthe, it only “salvaged” the drink. Again, Lucid somehow seems very sophisticated, and I’m guessing that many will prefer this flavor profile, but for me, I’ll probably stick with Pernod and (Van Gogh) Absente, and maybe a few others.

So far, my favorite absinthe
I'm a very light drinker but have wanted to try absinthe for awhile. Ended up buying some from Cheklosovakia and somewhat dissapointed, as the louche effect of adding water was not working, and was one of the main feature's I was looking for. After reading reviews decided to to give the French made La Fee a try. Caskers processed the order quickly with great communication and updates. Had concerns as earlier reviews had said La Fee used artificial colorings, but was happy when the bottle arrived and proclaimed that it was all natural. My first glass demonstrated a huge difference between this and previous absinthes I tried. The louche was opaque and somewhat iridescent. The bouquet was subdued and not very noticeable. The taste was mellow, balanced and pleasant. It was nice and I would not hesitate to purchase again, but really want to try other brands just for comparison.
