About Scapegrace Classic Dry Gin

Scapegrace Classic Dry Gin is lovingly crafted in New Zealand with 13 botanicals from around the world: Spanish orange and lemon peel, coriander seeds from the UK, Nutmeg from Grenada, Italian juniper berries, Guatemalan cardamom, Polish angelica root, Cloves from Comoros, licorice and orris roots from Italy, cinnamon from Sri Lanka, cassia bark from China, and Tangerine from Morocco. It's blended with some of the purest glacial water one can find. The unique geography of New Zealand's Southern Alps makes for extremely pure water that takes 80 years to travel through the mountain range, while being filtered through layers upon layers of sediment, finally reaching a natural aquifer. Distilled using a 19th-century John Dore whisky still, the gin is bottled at 84.4 proof. The striking bottle is a modern take on classic genever bottles.

About Gin

According to Winston Churchill, "The gin and tonic has saved more Englishmen's lives and minds than all the doctors in the Empire," referring to the British officers using it to treat malaria in India.

Initially made for medicinal purposes, gin gets most of its flavor from the juniper berries added after the distillation process. It sure has come a long way from the Middle Ages, with the introduction of new botanicals, fruits, and spices, bringing it closer to people of all flavor varieties.

It's a juniper-forward gin with the classic pine forest notes immediately apparent on the nose, followed by bright citrus notes and a touch of baking spices. The palate is equally juniper-forward with plenty of spice notes that add delicious complexity.
