About Ron Colón Salvadoreño 100 Proof Rye Whiskey

While Ron Colón Salvadoreño's story started with rum, their portfolio has been steadily expanding. Colón Salvadoreño Rye 100 is a rye whiskey that is sourced from acclaimed rye producers at MGP. Crafted with historic parameters and proprietary yeast, this expression is a blend of 3 distinct mash bills: a high-malt mash bill, a 51% rye, and a 100% rye. The first was used in small quantity, bringing notes of chocolate and apple to the table. The second was a fruity and sweet whiskey, while the 100% rye brought mint, spice, and floral notes to the expression. All the whiskeys in the blend have spent 5 years in charred oak casks. The rye whiskey is bottled at 100 proof.

About Rye

As American as the bald eagle, rye whiskey was first brewed in the American Northeast in the 1600s. Even George Washington distilled it after leaving the Oval Office, so there’s no way of denying its origin.
It’s distinguished from bourbon for its original and unique spicy notes.

By law, rye whiskey must be made from at least 51% rye grain, aged in new and charred oak barrels for at least two years, and bottled at no more than 62,5% ABV.
