About Meiyo Pure Malt 15 Year Old Japanese Whisky
This producer’s first malt whisky expression is aged in Japan in ex-bourbon casks. Much like the Pure Malt REI, this Meiyo 15 has the same tropical fruity notes, smoothness with no alcohol burn, and little to no peat. This age statement delivers much more depth of complexity due to the 15 years spent in Japan in ex-bourbon casks.
The nose is woody, yet tropical, and the palate is an initial dip into heavy oak before quickly moving into a lasting tropical fruit and pineapple flavor that remains dominant until the finish. This pure malt follows the success of their Meiyo 17, this time producing a pure malt as opposed to a single grain.
