About Fukano Vault Reserve 1 Japanese Whisky
Founded in 1823, Fukano Distillery is situated in Hitoyoshi City, of the Kumamoto Prefecture of Japan on the island of Kyushu. Nestled in the Kyushu mountains, Hitoyoshi is renown for its pure water and unadulterated nature.
Most known for producing shochu —a traditional Japanese spirit made from rice— Hitoyoshi is in its fifth generation of Fukano’s, now run by Shigeruriku Fukano. Fukano whisky is distilled from a combination of both malted and un-malted rice and passed through stainless steel still.
This limited edition spirit (together with Vault Reserve #2, Fukano 6000 and Jikan), this Japanese spirit is a fresh combination of whiskies aged 3 to 11 years old, all the way up to 16 years. Combining different tanks, Fukano bottled only 5,443 vials of this Rice whisky, with a mild Sherry-influence.

About Japanese Whisky
Although maybe not be the first Spirit you would think of when Japan is mentioned; the Japanese make one of the best types of whisky in the world. It’s heavily influenced by scotch but with smoother and delicate notes.
The history of the Japanese whisky is not even a century old, but in this short time, the Japanese blended and single malts have taken over the world by storm and can easily go against their whisk(e)y counterparts from across the globe.
