About Brugal Añejo Rum (1.75L)During the latter half of the 19th century, Andrés Brugal Montaner — a Spanish expatriate who had emigrated to Cuba — uprooted his family and decided to take up permanent residence in the Dominican Republic. While in Cuba, Brugal had begun experimenting with the distillation of sugar cane, and upon his arrival in the Dominican Republic in 1888, Brugal opened the doors to Brugal & Co. Distillery.
Today, the fourth and fifth generations of Brugal's direct descendants continue to honor the memory of their ancestors by acting as personal guardians of the entire rum-making process at Brugal & Co. Brugal.
The Brugal family recipe is a closely guarded secret, preserved in the hearts of a privileged few, passed down from generation to generation. After going through the distillation process, Brugal Rums are aged for up to eight years in hand-picked American oak casks.
This Brugal Añejo is matured for up to five years in a special selection of ex-bourbon American oak casks. The double-distillation process removes many of the heavy alcohols that other rums leave in, yielding a clean, smooth and spirit with just a hint of sweetness.
This double-distilled Añejo is a great value blend of rums which achieved an excellent rating of 92 points at the 2018 Ultimate Spirits Competition.

Rum history allegedly started in the Carribiens in the 17th century when they started to ferment and distill molasses, a byproduct of sugar production. Most of the Rum is aged in oak or ex-wine casks, giving its color and flavor.
We distinguish between 4 different Rum categories, where white or unaged rum is mainly used in cocktails, while dark, spiced, and añejo (aged) rum are mostly enjoyed neat.
