About Belfour Rye Whiskey

There are few things in life as exciting as sports and whisky. "Why not have both," said Hockey Hall of Famer 'Eddie the Eagle' Belfour. An NHL Hockey Player, Eddie brought two Stanley Cup Championship-winning teams. After retiring, he decided it was high time to leave a different kind of legacy—a whiskey legacy! Together with his son Dayn and daughter Reaghan, he runs Belfour Spirits and makes sure that their whiskey is carefully crafted by hand using sweet mash and paying close attention to the science and art that is whiskey making. The Belfour Rye Whiskey is a sporty spirit, bottled at 94 proof with a mash bill of rye, corn, and malted barley. It features a golden honey color, a deep nose of caramel toffee and toasted marshmallow, and a palate of oak, barrel char, sweet tobacco and delicate vanilla notes. Its non-traditional yet extremely pleasing character wows whiskey, scotch, and bourbon drinkers alike!

About Rye

As American as the bald eagle, rye whiskey was first brewed in the American Northeast in the 1600s. Even George Washington distilled it after leaving the Oval Office, so there’s no way of denying its origin.
It’s distinguished from bourbon for its original and unique spicy notes.

By law, rye whiskey must be made from at least 51% rye grain, aged in new and charred oak barrels for at least two years, and bottled at no more than 62,5% ABV.
