About Green Hat Navy Strength Gin
Green Hat Original Batch Gin is the latest addition to the portfolio of award-winning brands at MGP, a leading supplier of premium distilled spirits, and their first proprietary gin brand. Made for those that appreciate a juniper-forward blend balanced with original botanicals, this super-premium gin contains classic aromas of juniper, citrus, and herbs that linger on the palate with anise notes and a crisp finish.Since navy strength spirits are stronger than their non-nautical counterparts, their Navy Strength gin expression is bottled at 114.2 proof, making it bolder with candied lemon, grapefruit, floral, and spice notes. It retains the signature Green Hat profile along with its freshness and smoothness, its higher strength making it the perfect choice for mixing with tonic or any number of juicy, fruity, sweet, and tart cocktails.
Green Hat Gin was named #5 Best Craft Gin Distillery by USA Today.
Crafted in Washington, D.C.’s first distillery since Prohibition, Green Hat Gin is inspired by the infamous "Man in the Green Hat." Instantly recognizable in his green felt fedora, George Cassiday was a mysterious bootlegger who kept Congress well-stocked during Prohibition from his private offices in the House and Senate. Legend has it that he recorded more than 25 deliveries per day in his Black Book over the course of a decade, making him very popular indeed on both sides of the Hill. Cassiday is credited with helping to bring Prohibition to an end with a series of scathing front-page articles, even at the demise of his own good fortune. A man of his word, he destroyed the Black Book on the eve of Repeal and has been synonymous with the D.C. spirits scene ever since.

About Gin
According to Winston Churchill, "The gin and tonic has saved more Englishmen's lives and minds than all the doctors in the Empire," referring to the British officers using it to treat malaria in India.
Initially made for medicinal purposes, gin gets most of its flavor from the juniper berries added after the distillation process. It sure has come a long way from the Middle Ages, with the introduction of new botanicals, fruits, and spices, bringing it closer to people of all flavor varieties.
