About Cognac Park Borderies Mizunara

Park Borderies Mizunara Cognac is a 100% Borderies cognac, created by the Tessendier family who've been crafting spirits since 1995. What's the secret? It all starts with eaux-de-vie from the esteemed Borderies growing region, known for its round, floral, and smooth taste profile. After spending four years maturing in lightly toasted oak, this cognac gets a six-month finish in rare Mizunara oak casks. Mizunara is a rare variety of oak from Japan used to create barrels mostly used for aging Japanese whiskies. The Mizunara cask finish brings intensity and depth, conferring notes of vanilla, cocoa, and spice. These rich notes meld seamlessly with the lighter, floral character of the Borderies cognacs. Produced in limited editions due to the difficulty of obtaining Mizunara casks, making it a great find for the collectors.

About Cognac

Cognac is a type of brandy produced in the Cognac region of France.
Because the French take it very seriously, there are numerous rules cognac makers have to follow not to fall “short” into the brandy category.

The white wine from the specific grapes (Ugni blanc) has to be doubly distilled in a copper pot still before being aged for at least two years in oak casks from which the wood can only come from two specific forests in France (Limousin or Tronçais).

Depending on the age, there are three types of cognac, the youngest V.S. (Very Special), V.S.O.P. (Very Superior Old Pale), and the X.O. (Extra Old)
