This tequila is based on an ancient recipe found in a jungle still. After the ripe blue Weber agaves are harvested, they are cooked, crushed, fermented, and distilled using traditional methods. After resting for an extended period of time in American white oak casks, the tequila is bottled at 80 proof.

The Story

About Cazcanes No.7 Añejo Tequila

Named after the Caxcan ― the last indigenous Mexicans to be conquered by the Spaniards ― Cazcanes Tequila produces high-quality artisanal spirits that are based on an ancient recipe found in a jungle still. The tequila is made with artesian well water from deep underground and blue Weber agaves that grow in volcanic soil and are only harvested once they have reached full maturity. Crafted using traditional methods, the pinas are cooked, and crushed, then left to ferment with wild yeast. Finally, the juice is distilled using alembic stills. The No.7 Añejo expression rests in American white oak casks for an extended period of time before being bottled at 80 proof.

About Tequila

Although tequila has developed a bad reputation, there's more to the spirit than just shots on a Saturday night.

This traditional Mexican drink origins in the state of Jalisco when according to a local legend, lightning struck an agave cactus before the Nahua tribe drank its warm nectar. Behold, tequila.

Legally, tequila has to be made of 51% of Blue agave around the Jalisco region in Mexico. There are different types of tequila according to age - from the youngest representatives, blanco, reposado, and añejo, to the oldest extra añejo.

Tasting Notes

This beautiful tequila leads with agave, vanilla, and coconut on the nose, followed by hints of nutmeg and chocolate. The palate is warm with spice, vanilla, and coconut notes and a pleasant sweetness throughout. Look for spice, chocolate, and vanilla on the long and sweet finish.
