The Story

About Patrón Cask Collection Sherry Cask Aged Añejo Tequila

The Patrón Spirits Company was launched in 1989 by John Paul DeJoira and Martin Crowley. With its inception, came the world’s first ultra-premium tequila. A new state-of-the-art facility was constructed in Jalisco in 2002, to facilitate its profound reception. It became the first spirits brand in its class to sell one million cases.

Francisco Alcaraz is the Master Distiller & Blender behind the recipe for the Mexican spirit. Produced at the Hacienda de Patrón, the distillery sources agaves from Los Altos in Jalisco. Their signature lineup is created using a hybrid technique: half of the agaves are traditionally tahona-crushed, while the other half are modern roller-mill crushed agaves. The freshly milled desert succulents are slow-roasted in an oven, before being fermented in wooden vats.

Cask Collection Sherry Añejo Tequila is the brainchild of Master Distiller Francisco Alcaraz. Years in the making, the elegant spirit spends more than 2 years in Spanish oak casks that used to hold oloroso sherry. With a balance of oak, fruit, and characteristic blue Weber agave notes, it's an expertly-balanced limited edition tequila that is bottled at 80 proof.

About Tequila

Although tequila has developed a bad reputation, there's more to the spirit than just shots on a Saturday night.

This traditional Mexican drink origins in the state of Jalisco when according to a local legend, lightning struck an agave cactus before the Nahua tribe drank its warm nectar. Behold, tequila.

Legally, tequila has to be made of 51% of Blue agave around the Jalisco region in Mexico. There are different types of tequila according to age - from the youngest representatives, blanco, reposado, and añejo, to the oldest extra añejo.

Tasting Notes

The medium gold tequila opens with aromas of freshly-cooked agave, pecan nuts, dried fruit, and light butter. The palate is nutty and creamy with hints of toasted oak, caramel, and raisin, culminating in a long, fruity & nutty finish.
