About Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 2013 Extra Brut Champagne
The 2013 expression is the 75th Grand Vintage of the house of Moët & Chandon, seemingly perfecting their process since 1842 when the first one was released. Each Grand Vintage is made from the grapes of a singular exceptional year’s harvest and is therefore a unique interpretation of the year. The 2013 expression is a product of a very late harvest. The grapes have lived to see the very last of the autumn sun and the Champagne exhibits that in its warm, autumnal notes, golden hue, and persistent bubbles. It is made from 41% Chardonnay, 38% Pinot Noir, and 21% Meunier, all of which are grown in the heart of the Champagne country. After blending, this Champagne rested deep inside the house cellars for 7 years, protected from winds and sun rays to reach its full expression. The Champagne reaches a final dosage of 5/g, making this beautiful spirit Extra Brut. After the maturation process, the bottles are riddled, disgorged, and put aside to rest for at least 6 more months. This is a beautiful autumnal Champagne, filled with fine flavors and elegant texture to the mouthful.

About Champagne
Champagne has been associated with royalties since the 17th century, still maintaining its glorious reputation.
The French take Champagne seriously, so coming from the Champagne region of France isn't the only requirement that keeps this drink from being "just sparkling wine." The rules of the appellation require specific vineyard practices, particular types of grapes, specific pressing methods, and secondary fermentation of wine.
The maturity of the Champagne is immediately apparent in its golden hue, persistent bubbles, and autumnal notes: on the nose, soft aromas of roasted chestnuts, toasted buckwheat, rich nuts, honey nougat, ripe pears, dried flowers, and pine sap. The palate is energetic with notes of grapefruit, ripe fruits, and toasted nuts. It has a refined, grainy texture.
