About Los Azulejos
Azulejos are ceramic tiles that are common in expensive homes, churches, palaces, or even restaurants & bars. The ornamental art form serves as the inspiration for Los Azulejos Tequila, a brand that fuses the famous Mexican spirit with art. Founded by Don Pedro Quintanilla, the tequila is produced at Casa Maestri. The bottles are hand-painted by artists in Puebla, Mexico's home of the famous Talavera pottery. Several series of Los Azulejos Tequila have been released, celebrating artists (the Masterpiece collection) and heroes.
Although tequila has developed a bad reputation, there's more to the spirit than just shots on a Saturday night.
This traditional Mexican drink origins in the state of Jalisco when according to a local legend, lightning struck an agave cactus before the Nahua tribe drank its warm nectar. Behold, tequila.
Legally, tequila has to be made of 51% of Blue agave around the Jalisco region in Mexico. There are different types of tequila according to age - from the youngest representatives, blanco, reposado, and añejo, to the oldest extra añejo.
The nose is fruity with prominent agave aromas, as well as dried fruit, oak, orange zest, and a touch of minerality. The rich palate has caramel, vanilla, and citrus notes along with hints of dark chocolate. The finish is smooth and complex.
