About Jaja Tequila AñejoA small-batch, aged tequila, Jaja Tequila Añejo is crafted from 100% Agave Azul and water from the nearby Tequila Volcano. Aged for two years in ex-American whiskey casks, it's made from a combination of Highland and Lowland agave, resulting in a well-balanced and full-bodied spirit. With no added flavors or sweeteners, the palate delivers notes of vanilla, honey, almond, and oak. Enjoy this sumptuous tequila neat, on the rocks, or in a tasty cocktail.
JAJA is Spanish for "haha", and this tequila brand is all about laughter and celebration. It was founded by 3 friends after taking a trip to Jalisco, Mexico in search of the finest specimen of the famous traditional spirit. What they found was a distillery that employs traditional processes as well as being environmentally friendly. In 2018 the two brothers ― Maurice and Elliot Tebele of Fu**Jerry and Jerry Media fame ― launched the brand with their childhood friend Martin Hoffstein. "With JAJA, we know we're celebrating with a great-tasting Tequila, but also keeping it unpretentious, light-hearted, cool, and of course eco-friendly," said Elliot Tebele at the launch.
JAJA tequila starts just as any great tequila should ― with a blend of quality blue Weber agaves from the Highlands and Lowlands of Jalisco. These are harvested when they are at their peak maturity at around 7 to 8 years of age, cut, and cooked for 32 hours in brick ovens. After a brief 8-hour rest they are fermented for 3 days. The distillation then takes place in copper-lined pot stills using volcanic water. It's the triple distillation (instead of the more common double distillation) that lends the spirit its smoothness.
